About
Founded by an engineer, for the work engineers actually get asked to do.
BATC — Burhan Aviation Technical Consultancy AB — was founded by an aircraft engineer who understands the expectations and demands of the aviation business, because he has been the person under those demands, on the aircraft, against the clock.
Aviation studies began in 1998, the first job on aircraft in 2007, and the years since have run from the ramp and the hangar floor through to engineering and continuing airworthiness. Every discipline this company sells is one its founder has worked in person.
Why the company exists
There is a persistent gap in the Scandinavian market. Aviation companies regularly need specialised technical personnel for work that is real, technically demanding and time-bound — but too limited in scope to justify a permanent hire.
A redelivery campaign. A records audit ahead of a sale. Six weeks of technical representation during a heavy check. Each one needs someone who has done it before, who can be trusted to make judgement calls unsupervised, and who can then step out cleanly when the work is finished.
That is the space we occupy. We supply experienced aviation staff at all levels of the organisation, engaged for the shape of the task rather than the shape of an employment contract.
What we cover
Aircraft delivery and returns, international transitions, aircraft repossession, lease inspections, records reviews, owner inspections, technical representation at MROs, and CAMO workscope preparation — all under the PART-M and PART-145 framework.
Our clients are airline operators, lessors and aviation service providers. Each comes to the table with a different interest in the aircraft, which is precisely why an independent technical view is worth having.
We are already familiar with the systems those clients run on — MyBoeingFleet and AirbusWorld on the OEM side, AMOS, TRAX and Gannet for maintenance and engineering, FLYdocs, AirVault and Box for records, Forms On Fire in the field, and others besides. Whoever we place has used them before, so the first week is spent on your aircraft rather than on your software.
Reach and collaboration
BATC operates from Sweden and works across the Nordics. In June 2022 we entered a partnership with Aerotechnical Solutions Ltd, extending our reach and delivery capability into the United Kingdom.
We work in collaboration with CL Aviation Services AS and Fjord Aviation AS in the Nordics, and with BAC — Beta for Aviation Consultancy of Cairo, Egypt, which extends the same capability into the Egyptian market.
Between them, these relationships let us put a team onto a project at short notice, in more than one jurisdiction, without diluting the standard of the people who turn up.
What we do not do
BATC does not supply aircraft parts. Our source for aviation parts and AOG parts is Shannon Technical Services Ltd, and our role is limited to introducing them to the customer. From that point the relationship — specification, quotation, certification, pricing, supply — runs directly between the two of them.
We take no part in the transaction and no margin on it. That matters more than it may sound: a consultancy that earns on parts cannot give a fully independent opinion about an aircraft, and independence is the thing our clients are actually buying.
How we judge ourselves
- The client's technical position is stronger at the end of the engagement than at the start.
- Nothing material was discovered by someone else first.
- Every decision taken in the client's name can be evidenced.
- The engagement ended when the work ended.
Working with us
We also work with experienced contractors — licensed engineers, records specialists, technical representatives and CAMO staff — who want project work rather than a permanent seat. If that is you, get in touch and tell us what you cover.
